Proof of star… Advertisement’Love Call’
Ricky Fowler of the United States cheered at the TPC Sawgrass in Pontevedra Beach, Florida, where the PGA Tour Players Championship was held in 2015’s ‘5th major tournament’. Fowler entered the playoffs with Kevin Keithner (USA) and Sergio Garcia (Spain) with a total of 12 under par in four rounds and won the championship. By the way, Fowler was out of the championship until the 14th hole on the last day, but showed a bitter back feeling.
Fowler dramatically joined the joint lead by marching Eagle and Buddy on holes 16, 17 and 18 starting with the 15th hole. And TPC Sawgrass’s signature Island Green’s 17th hole (par 3) took a birdie to hold the championship cup. Fowler finished runner-up three times in the majors in 2014, a year ago, but he was regretted by winning the Players Championship.
Controversy remains over whether Fowler is a’top player’. Fowler beat Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy in the 2012 Wells Fargo overtime to get his first professional win. And in the 2015 Players Championship, he won a reverse victory, proving his star, and receiving an advertisement love call.

Fowler has more ads than PGA wins. Fowler shot more commercials than McIlroy, Jordan Spice, and Brooks Kepka (above the United States), who performed better. Fowler maintained the top spot in the 2007 amateur rankings for 36 weeks. Fowler went through the University of Oklahoma, joined the second part tour in 2007 and the PGA in 2009. A golfer who has stepped on an authentic course.
Fowler’s golden age was 2014, finishing fifth in the Masters, a major tournament, and runner-up in the US Open. In the British Open held in July of that year, he finished second behind McIlroy.
At the PGA Championship in August 2014, Fowler was defeated again by McIlroy, finishing runner-up. At the time, Fowler and Phil Mickelson (USA) were just ahead of the lead, and McIlroy kept the first stroke lead in the Champions Group. Fowler was tied for second with Mickelson. Fowler was the third after Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods (above the United States) who finished runner-up three times in the major tournament. Fowler only won 12 runners up until 2018. In 2018, it was also second in the Masters by 1 stroke. Fowler, who is not affiliated with the major tournament, still surpassed 30 million dollars (about 33.9 billion won) in prize money for the 29th time in the PGA tour.
For sports stars, performance comes first. Last year, Fowler’s world ranking fell to 49th. Fowler once climbed to fourth place in 2015, but the rankings plummeted since 2019. This year, you may not be able to compete in the automatically invited Masters to the 50th place. For Fowler, this year is an important inflection point.
