While local governments and police all over the country are conducting their own investigations on allegations of real estate speculation by public officials, Gyeonggi Province has started to accept reports of real estate speculation by public officials through the’Gyeonggi-do Public Interest Reporting Hotline (hotline.gg.go.kr)’. Prior to that, on the 5th, the Gyeonggi-do Development District Speculation Comprehensive Survey Group (hereinafter referred to as the Comprehensive Survey Group) was formed and closely cooperated with the 3rd new city government joint survey group. Six project districts and adjacent areas, including district, Gwangmyeong Hak-on, Seongnam Geumto, Anyang Gwanyang High School, and Anyang Indeokwon, are being independently investigated. In this regard, the province asked on the 12th to actively report on real estate speculation by Gyeonggi-do public officials through the public interest reporting hotline. Even if the report on real estate transactions is false, it is possible to report on public interest. In addition, a report can be made even if the district has been issued a false farmland acquisition certificate. Gyeonggi-do stated that “reporting is strictly confidential to the identity of the reporter in accordance with the’Public Interest Reporter Protection Act’ and’Gyeonggi-do Public Interest Report Protection and Support’ Ordinances, and if a disadvantage occurs due to the reporting act, it is subject to various protective measures.” Said. When a report is received, the Gyeonggi Provincial Investigation Team will strictly investigate and take strong measures, such as requesting investigation and prosecution for violations of laws and regulations, as well as self-penalties such as internal disciplinary action. In addition, according to the result of the disposition, the reporter will be actively reviewed whether or not the reward is paid. By Kim Ki-seong, staff reporter [email protected]
