Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who is being investigated for the suspicion of’propofol routine illegal medication’, has been judged by external experts for the appropriateness of the investigation and prosecution.

Recently, Vice Chairman Lee requested and accepted the convocation of the Prosecutors’ Investigation Review Committee.

In June of last year, the Prosecutors’ Investigation and Deliberation Committee was held on the suspicion of illegal succession of management rights by Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong.

Vice-Chairman Lee’s request was accepted to ask outsiders to judge whether the investigation and prosecution are appropriate.

At the time, the Investigation Review Committee decided to’recommend non-prosecution’, and although there was no coercion, it was a burden on the prosecution who enforced the prosecution.

As the year changed, Vice-Chairman Lee asked the prosecution to call another investigative deliberation committee.

This time, I would like to seek external expert judgment on the investigation of the’propofol habitual medication allegation’.

Earlier, the prosecution received a request for an investigation from the National Rights Commission of Korea in January of last year, with reports that Vice Chairman Lee had been routinely administered Propofol at a plastic surgery clinic.

Vice-Chairman Lee has consistently denied allegations of having never used illegal medications other than legal treatment.

At the request of Vice Chairman Lee, 15 citizen members of the prosecutor’s office, randomly selected, held a deputy deliberation committee privately, and decided to convene an investigation deliberation committee.

In this situation, further suspicions of Vice Chairman Lee’s administration of propofol were raised.

This time, the police caught the situation where Vice Chairman Lee routinely administered Propofol at another hospital.

Police recently sent an investigator to the Seoul Detention Center where Vice Chairman Lee is being held to collect hair and analyze the composition.

As further suspicions of taking propofol emerged, Vice-Chairman Lee is confused, but stubbornly denies that there was no illegal medication.

Following last year’s suspicion of illegal succession of management rights, Vice-Chairman Lee was judged by outside experts at the Investigation Deliberation Committee this time.

However, as suspicion of another illegal administration of propofol unexpectedly arose, it is predicted that it is difficult to guarantee whether the investigation can be stopped or a recommendation for non-prosecution can be obtained.
