It was found that in the competition for single candidates for the opposition by the mayor of Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and National Party candidate Ahn Cheol-soo are fighting a close battle.
In the’Preference Survey as a Single Candidate in Pan-Night Area’ conducted by KBS by Korea Research on the 8th and 9th, 38.4% of the respondents selected candidate Oh and 38.3% of the respondents chose Ahn. It is an ultra-thin ice within the margin of error (±3.5% points at 95% confidence level). The unification of the opposition candidates will be decided on the 19th of this month.
In the three-way confrontation between Candidate Oh, Candidate Ahn, and Democratic Party candidate Park Young-sun, Park’s approval rating was the highest at 35%, followed by Candidate Ahn and Candidate Oh, with 25.4% and 24%, respectively.
Candidate Ahn (44.9%) showed the dominance over Park (37%) in the bilateral confrontation assuming that Ahn was elected as a single opposition candidate and faced with Park. In the bilateral confrontation between Candidate Oh and Candidate Park, Candidate Oh was 44.3% and Candidate Park 39.5%, the gap was smaller than the margin of error.
Regarding Ahn’s political party, 43.3% answered that it is better to run as a candidate for the People’s Party as it is now. It was voted more than the response (34%).
