Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun announces the results of the investigation at the third regular briefing held at 2:30 pm at the government office in Seoul. The survey targets a total of 14,348, including 4,509 employees of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and 9839 employees of LH. After the first investigation, we plan to continue a second investigation on the spouses of employees and their immediate existence, public officials in charge of local governments belonging to the relevant housing site, and employees of local public enterprises and their families. In this case, the number of subjects to be investigated is estimated to be 100,000.

The investigation team confirmed the transaction details from 5 years before the designation of the housing district. Namyangju Wangsuk, Hanam Gyosan, Incheon Gyeyang, announced in December 2018, were investigated from December 2013 during the Park Geun-hye administration.

In addition to the 13 LH employees who have already confirmed land transactions in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s own investigation, the number of additional detections is the core of the findings. The investigation team looked not only on the land but also on the entire real estate transaction, including houses and buildings in the area. The investigation team plans to ask the police to investigate the employee who has confirmed the fact of the transaction or who refuses to conduct a full investigation.

At the briefing, Prime Minister Chung will announce the size of the employees whose transactions have been confirmed, and explain the policy for collecting criminal proceeds and the plan for the second investigation. The joint investigation team transfers the investigation results to the government joint special investigation headquarters led by the National Police Agency’s National Investigation Headquarters, and then proceeds to the second investigation.
