The US Indo-Pacific Commander, who has jurisdiction over the Indo-Pacific region, including the Korean Peninsula, has identified North Korea as a serious security threat facing North Korea.

Kim Jong-un, chairman of the North Korean State Council, assessed that instead of meaningful denuclearization measures, it is reinforcing a belligerent attitude such as developing nuclear weapons.

He explained that in the Indo-Pacific region, there are four of the five security tasks of the US Department of Defense, including North Korea and China.

In particular, North Korea stipulated that it is a serious security threat to the United States and is the biggest threat facing the Korean Peninsula until the nuclear situation is resolved.

He explained that it is developing weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons and asymmetric capabilities as well as advanced cyber operations that threaten the US mainland and alliances.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un evaluated that he was again taking a belligerent stance against the United States.

As an example, we discussed the threat of retaliation for the bombing of the Gaeseong Inter-Korean Cooperation Office and the spread of warfare against North Korea.

They also pledged to strengthen nuclear weapons earlier this year and confirmed some new weapons modernization goals, such as the accuracy of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

He said this is in line with North Korea’s explicit goal of attacking the US mainland.
