Last year, the recruitment market froze due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), but the public, information technology (IT), and design sectors were found to have advanced. In detail, in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), big data (29%) and video, editing, and codec (18%) in the IT and Internet jobs, public announcements have rather increased. This is due to the rapid increase in demand for non-face-to-face video content across industries due to the spread of Corona 19. In the field of AI and big data, there was a lot of demand for jobs in machine learning, AI, big data, Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud jobs.

On the other hand, the job category with the largest reduction in job postings fell 36% in the service sector. Jobs in the fields of education (-28%) and sales and customer counseling (-21%) also narrowed. In the service sector, there was a marked decline in travel/tourism/aircraft, hotels/casinos/condos, information/helpers/narrators, beauty/skin care/dogs, and leisure/sports jobs that were directly hit by Corona 19. However, due to the lack of child care, the occupations in housekeeping, cleaning, and childrearing have rather increased than in 2019. In the field of education, job postings in the field of study, tutoring, and visiting jobs, where face-to-face is essential, have decreased significantly.

The decline in job postings is similar to the decline in sales by industry. According to data analyzed by the Korea Economic Research Institute last year on gross domestic product (GDP), the decline in sales in the face-to-face service sector was more severe than during the 1998 financial crisis. On the other hand, the IT division suffered little damage due to the surge in online shopping and increasing demand for non-face-to-face video content.
