Group space division general situation room launched

Hanwha Solutions President Kim Dong-gwan leads the’Space Hub’, which will lead the entire space industry of Hanwha Group.
Hanwha announced on the 7th that it will launch a space hub that will lead the entire space industry. Space Hub is an organization that brings together core space-related technologies of Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, Hanwha, and Setrec I.
An official from Hanwha explained, “The Space Hub is not an organization at the top of each company, but is a general situation room in the space sector full of realism.”
President Kim takes on the first steps as an executive of Hanwha Aerospace, taking the role of the team leader of Space Hub. Previously, President Kim was recommended as a registered executive of Hanwha Aerospace on the 26th of last month.
The backbone of the Space Hub is Hanwha Aerospace engineers who participated in the development of the Korean launch vehicle’Nuri’.
Hanwha Systems’ communication and imaging equipment specialists, Hanwha’s weapons system specialists, and Hanwha Aerospace’s recently acquired private satellite company Setrec I are also expected to participate in the future.
An official from Hanwha said, “You can consider developing a service that combines Hanwha Systems’ video payload technology and Setrec-I’s earth observation satellite technology. It is also possible to consider advancing into the competing satellite communications field.”
Space Hub focuses on research and investment by dividing into the fields of production such as launch vehicles and satellites, and services such as communication, earth observation, and energy. It is also planning to actively recruit talented people in the field.
Space Hub also studies ways to link the space business with the technology of Hanwha Solutions’ solar technology, which is the No. 1 solar module market in the U.S., and the technology of Shimaron, an American hydrogen and space tank company acquired by Hanwha Solutions.
Hanwha plans to monitor trends in overseas private space projects and set research directions and business models through the Space Hub.
President Kim said, “To compete with world-class companies, we need expertise and full support. We will find a shortcut to space with engineers.”
He then said, “What someone should do is the space industry,” and said, “We will develop with the attitude of fulfilling our social responsibilities.”
