Aunt Yongin, Gyeonggi, who killed her 10-year-old nephew by violently abusing it was handed over to trial. It turns out that the victims abused the child and killed him after performing a exorcism ritual (the act of chasing a ghost) because he was “possibly possessed by a ghost”.

The Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office of Women and Children’s Crime Investigation Department (Chief Prosecutor Won-ho Kim) announced on the 7th that it had detained aunt A (34) and aunt B (33) on charges of murder and violation of the Child Welfare Act (child abuse).
They are accused of violently assaulting her nephew C (then 10 years old) from the end of December last year to the 7th of last month, tying her hands and feet and putting her head in a bathtub filled with water, and many times abusing her to death.

On the 7th of last month, the day before her death, Ms. C was severely beaten by them, and on the morning of the 8th of the same month, she was tortured by putting her head in and out of a bathtub full of water. A couple reported to 119, saying, “The child fell into the bathtub” when Ms. C did not breathe around 12:35 on the day. Ms. C was taken to the hospital by paramedics, but eventually died. The police arrested the couple urgently for violating the Special Act on the punishment of child abuse crimes. Subsequent investigations were conducted and the crimes of murder were also applied to them.

The prosecution believes that Ms. C has been abused since the end of December, a month after being entrusted to Mrs. A in November of last year. Aunt A, a shaman, judged that her nephew, C, couldn’t cover the urine and urine, and muttered unknown words, “there was a ghost.” Mr. B, a Korean traditional music that helps Mr. A’s gut, also agrees with Mr. A’s thoughts.

Afterwards, they assaulted Ms. C, saying they were chasing ghosts from her body. On January 20th, he was also emotionally abused, forcing him to eat dog poop.
The prosecution estimates that the water torture that Mr. A and Mrs. C performed before Ms. C died was also a “ritual to chase ghosts”.

At the time, Ms. C was in a state of being unable to walk properly due to severe injuries, such as a fracture of a rib after A couple assaulted them for nearly 4 hours the day before. However, they did not care and assaulted Miss C for about 3 hours the next morning. After that, after tying hands and feet, I had tortured my hair several times in a bathtub filled with water. They are said to have left their own children to relatives to leave the house before the crime. It is said that the scenes of abuse of Ms. C were also recorded as videos.

The prosecution determined that Ms. C was killed by the couple’s constant assault and water torture. As a result of the autopsy, traces of the assault were found throughout the body, including the face, head and torso of Ms. C. The left rib was also fractured, and a missing tooth was found in the esophagus. The autopsy doctor conveyed the opinion that Ms. C died of secondary shock (difficulty breathing due to lack of oxygen) and drowning due to the assault.

An official at the prosecution said, “The couple A argues that’Ms. C was in a bathtub to wash it, but there was no intention of murdering her, but she also admitted to the fact that she assaulted Miss C the day before.” “On the day of the crime, it is enough to admit the unwritten intentions of death by performing water torture even though we know that it is a serious situation because Ms. C does not raise his hand and cannot walk properly,” he said.

Parents of both C and C are also under investigation on suspicion of child abuse neglect or aid

The prosecution is investigating as the police sent Mr. D, Ms. C’s mother, on charges of aiding neglect or abuse under the Child Welfare Act on the 5th. The prosecution believes that Mr. D actually neglected Ms. C, even though he learned that Ms. C was being abused by his older sisters.

Mr. A stated in a previous police investigation, “When talking to his younger brother (Mr. D), he informed him that his nephew had not listened to him and was punished by corporal punishment.”
Mr. D said that he delivered a peach tree directly to Mr. A’s couple, who said they “chase after ghosts,” before Miss C died. The peach tree is known to have magical energy to chase ghosts in folk beliefs.

An official at the prosecution said, “Mr. A and Mrs. A state that they struck Ms. C with a flapper and a broom, etc., but these tools cannot inflict severe injuries to the extent that the ribs are broken.” It seems that he was assaulted, but the peach tree provided by Mr. D, saying,’I’m chasing a ghost’, may have been the cause of the serious injury,” he said.
The investigative authorities are also investigating whether Mr. A and Mrs. A abused their own children.

Meanwhile, in order to prevent child abuse, the prosecution decided to look at the cases of risk groups managed by child protection agencies and establish a cooperative system with the police from the initial stage to deal with them.
In addition, through the crime victim center, funeral expenses and psychological treatment are provided to the deceased family members of C.
