[사회]’Han Myung-sook case perjury suspicion’ expires…Will Park Beom-gye’s investigative command right be invoked?

[앵커]

In connection with the allegations that prosecutors forced false statements during the bribery case of former Prime Minister Han Myung-sook, all of the statutes of prosecutions of key witnesses will expire within this month.

With the Supreme Swordsman being virtually innocent on the allegations, some observers say that Justice Minister Park Beom-gye may be able to redistribute the case or exercise command of the investigation.

Former Prime Minister Han Myung-sook was accused of receiving illegal political funding of 900 million won from former CEO Han Man-ho, Shin Kun-young Han, and sentenced to two years in prison in the Supreme Court in 2015.

Afterwards, in April of last year, a complaint was filed with the Ministry of Justice that the prosecution had forced the witnesses in the former prime minister’s case to make false statements.

At the time, the investigation team asked Han Man-ho, fellow inmates, Kim Mo and Choi Mo, who went out as trial witnesses, to make a statement against the former Prime Minister Han.

They went to court to testify in March 2011.

The statute of prosecution for perjury for perjury for the purpose of perjury to others is 10 years, so Choi’s statute of prosecution is until today, and Mr. Kim’s statute of prosecution expires on the 22nd.

In particular, Mr. Choi is also a person who filed a complaint directly with the Ministry of Justice by raising the suspicion of a perjury teacher by the prosecution.

However, the Great Swordsman concluded that the two men were not charged with perjury, and the prosecutors at the time were charged with perjury teachers.

There is not enough evidence to prove whether the witnesses actually perjured, and whether the prosecution investigation team did perjury.

Researcher Im Eun-jeong, who has claimed to have been excluded from the job while investigating the matter, said it was not surprising because it was a fixed conclusion, and rejected it as an irrational decision.

In addition, former Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae also criticized the prosecution for blatantly wrapping up my family, and there are also protests from passport officials.

With the Supreme Swordsman’s conclusion of no charge, attention is also being paid to the actions of Justice Minister Park Beom-gye, who has supported the re-investigation.

Minister Park gave investigative powers within the appointment of Chief Prosecutor Im Eun-jeong as a central prosecutor, and when former President Yoon Seok-yeol excluded Researcher Lim from the job, he expressed regret.

For this reason, some observers have observed that Park may be redeployed in the case or may initiate an investigational command instructing the prosecution of those involved.
