I will explain the situation of the measures taken in relation to the recent outbreak of foreign workers in Dongducheon City.

Recently, there have been many confirmed cases of foreigners related to collective infection at workplaces.

The case of this group outbreak of foreign workers in Dongducheon City was discovered through anonymous inspection at the Temporary Screening Inspection Center, and a total of 132 people were confirmed.

Currently, additional tests are being conducted on the family of the confirmed person and those living in the same facility.

The foreign confirmed person is currently undergoing quarantine treatment, and the contact person is being checked to conduct a Japanese examination and an epidemiological investigation.

The quarantine authorities are setting up temporary screening and inspection stations in industrial complexes and areas where foreigners are concentrated in consideration of the characteristics of work and the area where they live.

In addition, we share the situation of patient occurrence and actions taken with relevant ministries such as local governments, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Ministry of Justice.

In addition, preemptive inspection and tracking management will be reinforced, focusing on industrial complexes related to foreigners in the northern region of Gyeonggi Province.

At the temporary screening office, even non-registered foreigners are tested for free without visa verification.

Foreigners are prohibited from entering the country if they do not submit a PCR negative confirmation at the time of entry, and Korean citizens will be quarantined for 14 days after diagnostic tests in temporary living facilities.

At this time, the cost is self-burden, so please be aware that it can be a huge burden for non-submissioners so that you do not experience any inconvenience.

When entering Korea from overseas, please undergo PCR testing in advance and prepare a negative confirmation before entering the country. Next, I will explain the major amendments to the law on the prevention and management of infectious diseases that passed the plenary session of the National Assembly on February 26th.

The law comes into force immediately after the March 9 promulgation, taking into account the seriousness of the corona19 infection situation.

Let me explain the main content.

First, through the right to claim damages, you can claim damages from people who spread infectious diseases or increase the risk of spreading by violating infectious disease prevention or quarantine measures.

In addition, a new content will be added to expand the authority to order to suspend or close the operation of places or facilities that violate the quarantine guidelines.

Regarding vaccination, illegal vaccination ban items were newly created, which prohibits receiving vaccinations by fraudulent methods and imposes a fine for violating them. We have established the basis for purchasing vaccines that are available in advance or for contracts such as those that may be needed for supply.

The following will explain the matters related to the COVID-19 vaccination.

As of 0 o’clock on March 6, 67,840 people were vaccinated, and 2,96,380 people were first vaccinated.

By vaccination institution and target, 165,743 nursing hospitals, 53,380 nursing facilities, 2551 first responders, and 69,357 hospital-level medical institutions or higher. And 5249 people were vaccinated at the hospital that treats COVID-19 patients.

Corona 19 is an infectious disease that anyone can get in the current global pandemic.

You shouldn’t be the target of social criticism or blame just because you have an illness.

This is a universal issue that applies across nationalities and occupations.

In addition, I ask for foreign workers.

For your own health and the rapid end of the epidemic of infectious diseases in our society, please strictly comply with all quarantine rules applied in Korea, and the business owners also provide regular ventilation and disinfection to ensure that workers can work in a safe environment. We ask you to actively make improvements.

When a community culture that prays for tolerance and healing rather than discrimination against patients is formed, along with thorough compliance with quarantine rules, anyone can comfortably receive diagnostic tests when there are suspicious symptoms when necessary and without noticing the surroundings. Through this, you will be able to return to your daily life.

This will enable all of us to be free from COVID-19 faster and more freely.

Although vaccination has been in full swing, it still takes a considerable amount of time before mass immunity can be established.

At this point, the incidence of patients is not declining at an average of about 400 per day, and there is always a possibility of a relapse.

Therefore, even after vaccination, you must follow the rules of wearing a mask, distance and personal hygiene.

As mentioned again, even in countries that have started vaccination early, there are signs of a recurrence, with the number of confirmed cases increasing again due to poor wearing of masks and social relaxation atmosphere even after vaccination.

No matter how much emphasis I have, I would like to again ask for three quarantine rules that are not lacking.

First, regardless of the situation and location, please wear a mask whenever possible, except when eating.

Second, please observe the distancing rules and quarantine rules that apply by region.

Third, if you have any suspicious symptoms such as fever or respiratory symptoms, please get tested immediately.

Today, the first weekend of March, the amount of movement is increasing as the day breaks down. I think that there are more people visiting amusement parks and national parks, and many people will also come to multi-use facilities.

For the safety of all, all visitors, travelers, and users of multi-use facilities are requested to strictly observe the quarantine rules. The quarantine authorities will also do their best without delaying the rein of tensions so that the people can regain their normal daily happiness more safely from the threat of infectious diseases.
