[투데이에너지 조대인 기자] Korea Gas Safety Corporation (President Hae-jong Lim), an organization dedicated to hydrogen safety, formed a hydrogen safety infrastructure construction task force (TFT) under the supervision of the Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute on the 3rd and held a kick-off meeting to improve the safety of hydrogen products. did.

This TFT is attended by Yeon-jae Lee, safety management director of Gas Safety Corporation and 36 employees from nine internal departments, and external advisory services are provided by Chungcheongbuk-do, Hyundai Motor Company, and Korea Transportation Safety Authority.

At the meeting that day, the detailed construction schedule and execution plan of the hydrogen product inspection support center and the hydrogen bus/charging station test and evaluation center were reviewed.

In addition, general discussions were held for the establishment of hydrogen safety infrastructure, including the establishment and amendment of the inspection standards for hydrogen products, the construction plan of the inspection process, and the construction of a large-scale ultra-high pressure hydrogen container test facility.

The Hydrogen Safety Infrastructure TFT is in charge of establishing a hydrogen product inspection support center that performs safety management of hydrogen products, and is in charge of establishing a hydrogen bus and charging station test and evaluation center that evaluates the safety performance of large hydrogen bus (commercial vehicle) parts and hydrogen charging station parts.

First of all, the Hydrogen Product Inspection Support Center is a testing laboratory that performs safety inspection on four types of hydrogen products according to the enactment of the Hydrogen Act, such as mobile and stationary fuel cells, water electrolysis facilities, and hydrogen extraction facilities.

In addition, the hydrogen bus and charging station test and evaluation center is a testing laboratory that performs testing on containers and parts mounted on large hydrogen vehicles such as hydrogen buses, and on components of hydrogen charging stations.

The site for the inspection support center is currently under public offering, and the site for the test and evaluation center for hydrogen bus and charging station parts is expected to be built in Seongbon Industrial Complex, Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk.

Gas Safety Corporation signed a business agreement with Eumseong-gun on February 4th for the hydrogen bus test and evaluation center.

Gas Safety Corporation plans to establish product development and inspection standards for hydrogen products inspection and hydrogen bus parts in accordance with the enforcement of the hydrogen law through rapid construction of hydrogen safety infrastructure with this TFT as an organization.

Along with this, the company plans to actively carry out tasks to expand the safety of hydrogen products, such as expanding inspection items for parts of hydrogen charging stations.

Hae-jong Lim, president of Gas Safety Corporation, said, “We will try to successfully promote the hydrogen industry ecosystem promoted by the government, such as a roadmap for activating the hydrogen economy.”
