Mercedes-Benz luxury brand Mercedes-Maybach has joined the trend of SUVs.

Mercedes-Benz Korea (CEO Thomas Klein) announced on the 2nd that it will officially release Maybach’s first SUV and Mercedes GLS top model, the New Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4-Matic, for 256.6 million won (individual consumption tax cut).

The New Maybach GLS wore a Mercedes triangle star on the bonnet. The radiator grille has 29 high-gloss chrome bars arranged vertically and multi-beam LED headlamps are applied to complete the intense front.

The chrome front apron with wide air intakes visually demonstrates the powerful performance of the V8 engine.

On the side, the length of the rear seat space is further emphasized with a chrome-material B-pillar. The 23-inch Maybach multi-spoke wheels with elegant hub caps give the New Maybach GLS an elegant presence.

The Maybach brand emblem was applied to the D-pillar. The radiator grille, door panel, and back are also engraved with Maybach lettering.

When the vehicle door is opened, the body is slightly lowered, and an aluminum electronic running board with lighting appears silently, helping to get on and off the vehicle conveniently.

When the front door is opened, a welcome light that projects the Maybach emblem onto the floor welcomes passengers. The rear side is finished in high-gloss chrome with horizontal inserts and tailpipes to emphasize the luxury charm.

The interior is equipped with a Digino leather package as standard. Nappa leather was applied not only to the seat but also to the roof liner.

The steering wheel is made of nappa leather and wood. The future-oriented image was also enhanced with two 12.3-inch large screens.

The vents were also decorated with Digino high-gloss black piano lacquer trim and chrome. The center console has two leather-covered handles engraved with the Maybach emblem.

The New Maybach GLS is equipped with MBUX for Maybach with the Maybach Classic mode added.

In Maybach Classic Mode, the overall atmosphere is darkened to a dark blue. Numbers, needles and bezels are available in rose gold. When the engine is turned on, the Maybach logo appears on the dashboard and media display, welcoming passengers.

The New Maybach GLS provides a more comfortable and differentiated rear seat space than the S-class sedan based on the generous body of the GLS.

The wheelbase that determines the interior space is 3135mm. The rear seat legroom reaches 1103mm, and a maximum legroom of 1340mm can be secured when the front seat is moved to the shopper position.

The two-row independent seats located 120mm further behind the existing GLS boast enough space to serve as a private office or rest area while on the move. The front and rear seats, which are 25 cm and 28 cm high, respectively, compared to the S-class, support more convenient getting on and off with an electronic running board.

The independent executive seats in the rear seats finished in nappa leather are equipped with an electric reclining function and a temperature-controlled massage program as standard.

Electronic panoramic sliding sunroof and roller type sun blinds are included. The optional rear first class seat provides an optimized space for rest or work.

Rear-seat passengers can play movies, music or surf the web with the MBUX rear seat entertainment system with two 11.6-inch full HD touchscreens.

It also has two Mercedes-Benz Bluetooth headsets and a tablet that can control the system. The seat, as well as the armrests and door panels, are also provided with a heating function.

The acoustic comfort package cancels out outside noise. The Boomerster high-end 3D surround sound system consists of 26 high-performance speakers and 24 amplifier channels.

The 4-liter V-type 8-cylinder M177 gasoline engine was developed exclusively for Maybach, with a maximum output of 557 hp and a maximum torque of 74.4 kg.m.

In addition, an integrated starter generator and 48-volt electrical system are included to provide an additional 22 horsepower output and 25.5kg.m of torque when required.

The 9G tronic automatic transmission significantly lowers the engine rotation speed to provide a comfortable ride. A transfer case with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch is also installed as standard, allowing the drive torque to be set variable from 0% to 100%.

If you select the’Maybach drive program’, a chauffeur-only mode that puts more emphasis on the comfort of the rear passengers, the transmission minimizes gear shifts for smooth driving and keeps acceleration at a constant level.
