Tottenham Changes UEL Round of 16 Schedule… 1st leg home-2nd leg expedition

[엑스포츠뉴스 김희웅 인턴기자] Tottenham Hotspur’s European Football Federation (UEFA) Europa League round of 16 schedule has been changed.

UEFA revised the schedule of the first and second leg of the Europa League round of 16 between Tottenham and Dynamo Zagreb (Croatia) on the 2nd (Korean time) and announced.

The first game will be held at 5 am on the 12th at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, the home of Tottenham. The second match will be held at 2:55 am on the 19th at Maximir Stadium in Zagreb, Croatia, home of Dynamo Zagreb.

Originally, according to the lottery on the 26th of last month, Tottenham was scheduled to bring Dynamo Zagreb to his home in the second game on the 19th after having played the first leg of the round of 16 on the 12th.

However, the schedule was changed due to Europa League rules that prevented two teams with the same connection from playing their home games on the same evening.

Like Tottenham, Arsenal, who is based in London, is leaving on the Olympiacos expedition on the 12th. Then, 7 days later, on the 19th, Olympiacos is called to the home and a confrontation is held.

On the 19th, the schedule of the home game between Tottenham and Arsenal overlapped, and Tottenham adjusted the schedule.

On the official website, Tottenham said, “UEFA rescheduled the same evening to avoid playing at home by two teams in the same city in accordance with Rule 21 of the Europa League 2020/21 season and a principle approved by the Club Competition Committee.” Explained.

This schedule change is not bad for Tottenham either. Tottenham will play a home game against Crystal Palace on the 8th, starting with Fulham in the English Premier League (EPL) on the 5th. After that, on the 12th, Dynamo Zagreb is called to his home for a Europa League, and on the 15th, he is scheduled to go on an Arsenal expedition.

It is a strong march that has to play four games in 10 days, but both Fulham and Arsenal are based in London. Therefore, the burden on the distance traveled is expected to decrease.

On the other hand, Tottenham, who was recently sluggish at the EPL, defeated Wolfsberger 4-0 in the Europa League on the 25th, followed by 4-0 on the 28th and laid the foothold for a rebound.
