This department store, which celebrated its first holiday after opening on the 26th, was crowded with no time to step on the day. Department store parking personnel came out of the building to arrange traffic, but at one time, a waiting vehicle and a nearby vehicle line were tangled, resulting in a traffic jam. Restaurants and cafes inside the building were full of people. In particular, in the case of a famous coffee shop, there were more than 40 people waiting in line. Inside the department store, visitors were asked to measure their body temperature and wear masks, but it was easy to find people who put down masks on simple chairs and drink coffee or eat bread. Kim Mo (28), an office worker who visited this place with a friend, said, “I was curious, but it was true that everyone was sitting together and I was concerned about quarantine because they didn’t wear masks properly.”

Starfield, located in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, was also crowded with customers for the holiday season. A 38-year-old housewife who visited this place with her children said, “It seems like I haven’t been alone. I came out because of the preparation for the new semester, but even though it was raining, I was surprised by too many people.” The store was attracted by family visitors looking for new semester supplies with their children.

During the three-day holiday, as crowds gathered around tourist destinations and shopping malls, experts feared the possibility of re-spreading the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). Eun-mi Chun, a professor of respiratory medicine at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital, said, “It is a really dangerous time. Looking at the vaccination plan, the number of vaccinations from March to April is really small. “Since the general public vaccination begins in earnest from the third quarter, the risk will continue until at least fall.” He said, “It is dangerous to have a heart that will be okay soon. In the case of Israel, who received the vaccine first, the number of confirmed cases increased as the blockade was eased.”

Israel, which is the number one vaccination rate in the world, has risen from 0.8 to 0.99 in the last week. Compared to 0.6 when the blockade was implemented by vaccination, the figure has returned to an upward trend. The infection reproduction index indicates the number of people infected by one confirmed person, and if it exceeds 1, it is judged that the infection is spreading. Experts point to the recent increase in vaccination rates and the release of containment measures.

Third epidemic, may not fall below 100

Jeong Ki-seok, a professor of respiratory medicine at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, said, “By the end of the first outbreak, the number of confirmed patients has dropped to 10, and during the second outbreak, it has dropped to 50. It is a situation where people have no choice but to come out (outside) again after losing.

The quarantine authorities emphasized compliance with the quarantine guidelines, such as keeping a distance on the day. Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol said in a briefing, “People flocked to major tourist destinations and shopping malls during the holiday season. In addition to vaccination, I am very concerned that the awareness of quarantine has disappeared like a melting snow in the spring breeze.” Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) Commissioner Eun-kyung Chung also said, “Vaccination is still in the very early stage.”
