The government conducted intensive monitoring of bait sales that mocked consumers in the housing market. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to request the local government to impose a fine for 681 cases of actual legal violations among reports received at the Real Estate Advertising Market Monitoring Center, as in the case of Mr. A.
On the 25th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will detect 681 cases of false or exaggerated advertisements as a result of monitoring false advertisements for online real estate sales, and notify local governments to dispose of fines. The subject of monitoring is 2257 cases reported and received for violations of explicit obligations and false or exaggerated advertisements through the Real Estate Advertising Market Monitoring Center operated by the Korea Internet Advertising Foundation.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport determined that 681 cases were suspected of actually violating laws. There were 411 violations of explicit obligations, 248 violations of unfair display and advertisement bans, and 22 violations of the advertising subject. This is the second monitoring result after the government reinforced regulations on false Internet real estate advertisements through the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Real Estate Agent Act in August last year.
According to the revised Enforcement Decree of the Certified Brokerage Act, if a real estate agent posted a false property that does not exist, or if the property is real but cannot be the target of brokerage, it is disposed of as an unfair advertisement. It is also illegal to display basic contents such as sale prices and management fees differently from the facts, or to conceal or reduce contents that have a great influence on the choice of housing consumers, such as location conditions and housing directions. A penalty of 5 million won is imposed on the realtor who advertises on the Internet.
“We plan to expand monitoring targets to SNS, which can be relatively poorly managed,” said Han Jeong-hee, manager of the Real Estate Industry Division of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Recently, it seems that the government is tightening the rein for falsely exaggerated real estate information online. Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun also recently ordered strong measures to prevent market disruption such as false reporting.
