The government has decided to re-extend the suspension measures for flights departing from the UK to block the influx of the new coronavirus infectious disease (Corona 19) mutant virus into the country.
According to the quarantine authorities and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the UK on the 24th, the suspension measures for direct flights departing from the UK scheduled for the 25th will be extended by two more weeks until the 11th of next month.
The government temporarily suspended flights departing from Heathrow Airport in London, England from December 23 to 31 last year, and continued to extend it, as mutant viruses were reported one after another in the UK. It is known that the mutant virus, which is prevalent in the UK, is 1.7 times stronger than the existing virus. The government has raised the level of quarantine response during the quarantine process to block the influx of mutant viruses.
From this day on, it is mandatory to submit a gene amplification (PCR) test’negative confirmation’ for all inbound travelers from overseas. If foreigners do not submit the confirmation, entry itself is prohibited, and Koreans may be quarantined for 14 days after undergoing a diagnostic examination at a temporary living facility. All related costs are at your own expense. In addition, all immigrants must undergo examination after entering the country and before quarantine. The government has also decided to extend measures to stop issuing quarantine exemptions to persons departing from the UK.
Previously, the quarantine authorities had in principle suspended the quarantine exemption system in countries where the mutant virus occurred, and required those exempted from quarantine to submit a negative PCR test certificate within 5 to 7 days of entry.
The embassy said, “The government decided to suspend issuance of the quarantine exemption certificate for immigrants departing from the UK until the 28th of this month, but it has decided to extend it for 3 weeks until March 21st.” Guided. However, exemptions may be issued by exceptions to public officials who return home after attending the funeral of their spouse or immediate relatives or descendants, or after traveling for public service. Again, a negative PCR confirmation must be submitted.
To date, the number of people who have been confirmed to have been infected with the mutant virus in Korea totaled 128 people, including 109 infected from the UK, 13 from South Africa, and 6 from Brazil. Most of these people came from overseas, but there have also been successive cases of group spread within the region through family and relative gatherings.
