A committee was held today to decide whether to distribute a large amount of seawater to Saemangeum Lake in Jeollabuk-do, where water quality has deteriorated.

Saemangeumho, an artificial lake that spans the seas of Gunsan, Gimje, and Buan, North Jeolla Province.

It is designed to serve as a foundation for a waterfront city to be built in the vicinity while supplying agricultural water to the surrounding farmland.

To do this, the water must be clean above all else, and even after pouring over 4 trillion won over 20 years, the quality of the water has failed to improve.

This led to controversy over whether to distribute seawater in large quantities, so attention was focused on the first Saemangeum committee this year.

However, no conclusion was reached this time.
