The government decided to supply 70,000 households by designating Siheung District, Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province as the third new city. It is 4.3 times the size of Yeouido in Seoul, the largest among the 3rd new towns, and is similar to the Ilsan new town (69,000 households). In addition, it was decided to create a mini new city with 18,000 households and 13,000 households in the Daejeo District and Gwangju Sanjeong District, respectively. Together, there are 100,000 households.
Earlier, the government confirmed and announced a supply plan for 173,000 households in the 3rd new city, but when concerns about supply shortages emerged, it belatedly launched a large-scale supply card similar to that of the ‘4th new city’. The government officially stated that “There is no 4th new city.” There is a bar. The government is in the position that Siheung District, Gwangmyeong, is the sixth third new city.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 24th a plan to promote a new public housing site. This is part of the follow-up measures for the last 2·4 supply measures. In detail, Gwangmyeong Siheung (12.71 million㎡) will be supplied with 70,000 houses in Gwangmyeong-dong and Okgil-dong, Siheung-si and Gwarim-dong, Siheung-si. In preparation for a large influx of population, it has also decided to establish a railroad-centered public transportation system. It was decided to build an urban railroad that runs through the north and south to connect the metropolitan area express railroad (GTX)-B, subway lines 1, 2 and 7, and the Sinansan Line. Medium-sized residential sites are built in Busan and Gwangju. A total of 18,000 households will be supplied to 2.43 million square meters of Daejeo-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan. A total of 13,000 homes will be built in 1.68 million square meters in Sanjeong and Jangsu-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
Seo Jin-hyung, a professor of business administration at Kyungin Women’s University (Chairman of the Korean Real Estate Association) said, “It takes a considerable amount of time to build infrastructure such as the metropolitan transportation network, so even if it is 1km away from the Seoul border, it will not be enough to disperse Seoul demand.” Is positive, but it is difficult to stabilize the house price within a short period of time.”
