The city of Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 23rd that it will install and operate a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccination center in the citizen’s garden in front of the Shinsegae Department Store at Uijeongbu Station on Subway Line 1.
Initially, the establishment of the center was promoted at Eulji University Hospital in Uijeongbu and applied to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a candidate site, but due to budget problems, it was changed.
Earlier, Mayor Ahn Byung-yong suggested government funding at a regular meeting of the Gyeonggi-do Mayor/Gunsu Council held online on the 9th to resolve this issue. This is because there is no basis for installing or supporting vaccination centers in private medical institutions such as university hospitals in the COVID-19 vaccination guidelines.
However, for the recommendation to be accepted, a considerable time is expected, and the vaccination schedule is approaching, and it is decided to establish an vaccination center in front of Uijeongbu Station.
The city of Uijeongbu will spend 780 million won by the end of next month to build a temporary vaccination center here and operate it from April.
Inside the center, like the central vaccination center, it is divided into four areas: waiting, vaccination, observation, and vaccine storage.
After measuring body temperature in the waiting area, a questionnaire is prepared, and in the inoculation area, pre-diagnosis and vaccination are performed. In the observation area, look for adverse reactions after vaccination.
Citizens’ waiting areas and convenience facilities will also be installed outside the center.

From the 26th, the city of Uijeongbu will begin inoculating AstraZeneca for 3,700 people, including hospitalized, residents, and workers under the age of 65 in 80 group facilities for the elderly such as nursing homes.
Doctors in these facilities directly vaccinate, or health center staff visit the facilities to immunize them. Subjects may go to the public health center to get the vaccine.
To this end, a team of doctors, nurses, and administrative personnel was formed.
The city of Uijeongbu plans to complete the vaccinations for Corona 19 response personnel, including firefighters and medical staff, by May.
The city of Uijeongbu predicted that general citizens could be vaccinated from July. However, it may change depending on the vaccine supply and demand situation.
Those under the age of 18 and pregnant women are not eligible for vaccination. Whether or not to allow vaccinations for those 65 years of age or older has not been determined.
Hwang Beom-soon, deputy mayor of Uijeongbu City, said, “Be sure to get the vaccine when the vaccination is in order,” he said. “Even if the vaccination starts, you must follow the quarantine rules such as wearing a mask and keeping distance until group immunity is formed.
