Hanjin Courier’s labor union went into a general strike nationwide indefinitely, claiming that a union member was unfairly dismissed.

The union members have held a general strike resolution from 8 am this morning and said they will refuse delivery until the dismissal is withdrawn.

Starting with the 8 o’clock resolution meeting this morning, the members of Hanjin Courier went on a general strike.

There are about 8,500 delivery drivers across the country.

The number of workers participating in this strike is about 280 people, which is less than 5% of the total, but the distribution terminal I am on is a place with a high union membership ratio, with 80 out of 110 Hanjin courier drivers.

Therefore, only 30 non-union workers are working on parcels here, and the business is virtually paralyzed.

As you can see, the delivery boxes behind me are the quantities that should have been delivered, but they are stacked up like this when the union members stopped delivering.

In other words, 75% of the shipments that must be delivered today are out of stock due to strikes.

There are signs that Hanjin Courier is trying to get rid of the courier union altogether beyond labor repression, and even though the social consensus organization has made an agreement, it must be included even if it does not dismiss it. It is such a situation that there is literally no adherence to the social consensus scheme, which splits up small agencies and fires four courier workers.

That’s an esoteric question. We will continue to fight until then until the day when we can really recover the dismissal, which we can only do until we win, and then fulfill the agreements agreed by the social consensus body well.

The strike is expected to take place in a way that people go to work at the specified time but do not deliver courier services.

An official from the Courier Coalition Union explained that as Hanjin courier workers in each branch refused to deliver to their respective regions, there would be a disruption in receiving packages in some regions.

As the background of such an indefinite general strike, the courier union cited the unfair dismissal of the management against some members.

Recently, in the process of dividing the Gimcheon agency of Hanjin Express into the North Gimcheon and Nam Gimcheon agencies, four union members who shouted to improve working conditions were fired.

The union criticized the new director of the North Gimcheon agency for refusing to meet with the union on working conditions, and for refusing the contract.

The union says that this splitting of agencies is an effort to break the union.

Dividing the existing nine agencies into 4 or 5 people will reduce the total revenue of the agency, so the income of the owners of each agency also decreases, so there is no reason to split the agency.

Likewise, the union criticized the Wonju agency for going into a similar process of dividing nine members into separate agencies.

The union also exposed another unfair labor practice by the management.

The Geoje agency insisted on withdrawing from the collection, saying that since the protest against getting off the parcel box was held on the 14th of last month, it has maintained about 40% of the usual quantity.

In other words, the union side stressed that the management clearly violate the agreement that the social consensus body does not engage in unfair trade activities such as unilateral termination of contracts in January, and that the management went into a general strike.

In response, Hanjin Express said that it will understand the specific status of this general strike and come up with countermeasures to minimize customer inconvenience.

The specific position on the general strike itself has not yet been announced.

On the other hand, the labor union announced that CJ Logistics’ Changnyeong branch also terminated the contract of two members from December last year, and that all 11 members of the branch will go on strike starting today.

Meanwhile, if CJ does not come up with an advanced alternative, it is planning to strike a strike with 1,100 members in the Gyeongnam region, Daegu, Ulsan and the Yeongnam region from the 25th.

Here, CJ Logistics explained that the strike is a conflict between the delivery store and the courier, so it will try to solve it smoothly.
