The targets for vaccination are patients under the age of 65 and workers in 189 nursing hospitals and 106 nursing facilities in the city. The city has already received consent to vaccination of 23,442, or 93.9% of these 24,962. Nationwide, about 94% of the first vaccination subjects revealed their intention to inoculate, and the initial vaccination participation rate is evaluated as good.
Nursing hospitals are inoculated by medical institutions themselves, and nursing facilities are planned to be vaccinated by a vaccination team at a public health center with the cooperation of a contract doctor. The AstraZeneca vaccine will be decided in the next month. This is because the efficacy and effectiveness are controversial due to the lack of clinical trial results for this age group. In addition to nursing hospitals and nursing facilities, vaccinations for workers in high-risk medical institutions such as general hospitals and COVID-19 responders such as 119 paramedics will begin next month, and AstraZeneca vaccine will also be used.
In contrast, Corona 19 medical staff are expected to receive the Pfizer vaccine as early as the 27th. Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun said, “117,000 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine will arrive in Korea on the 26th and be vaccinated to medical professionals to treat COVID-19 patients from the 27th” said.
In contrast to the visibility of the Corona 19 vaccination, negative outlooks come out about the formation of collective immunity in November this year. The aim of the quarantine authorities is to complete the vaccination for 70% of the people by September this year and to form a group immunity at this level by November, before winter comes. However, there are cases in which immunity is not formed even after receiving the vaccination, so the analysis is strong that 80-90% of the people actually need to receive the vaccination in order to achieve the collective immunity of 70%. As a result of clinical trials, AstraZeneca’s 62-70%, Janssen’s 66%, NovaVax’s 89.3%, Moderna’s 94.1%, and Pfizer’s 95% are known to have preventive effects.
In this situation, if the number of vaccination rejectors continues, the timing of the formation of population immunity will be delayed. Prime Minister Jeong said, “Some people use stimulating terms that are far from reality, such as’water vaccine’ or’refusal of vaccination,’ and create a sense of social anxiety. Please actively participate in the vaccination.”
Meanwhile, Busan City announced that 13 corona19 confirmed cases came out as of the afternoon of the 21st, and the cumulative number of patients was 3,149. Three of the new confirmed cases were two patients at Haedong Hospital and one caregiver who had a group infection. In Gyeongnam, 3 (2 in Changwon and 1 in Jinju), and in Ulsan, 1 additional confirmed.
