National Assembly talks about how to install CCTV in operating room
“The people overwhelmingly approve…it is against the people’s will”
Lee, who raised the issue since 2018, “Go to the government”

Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myeong is holding a press conference for the third move of public institutions in Gyeonggi-do at Gyeonggi-do Office in Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do on the morning of the 17th. News 1
Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myeong criticized the National Assembly, saying that the National Assembly’s treatment of the’Medical Law Amendment’, which made it mandatory to install a closed circuit (CC) TV in the operating room, was virtually eliminated. Since 2018, Governor Lee has consistently insisted on the need for a CCTV installation policy in the operating room, saying that public opinion is high in favor of opposition from the medical community.
Governor Lee said on his Facebook page on the 20th, “It is very unfortunate and disappointed that the mandatory operation room closed circuit video in this National Assembly has actually entered the path of failure. This is an act of betraying the sovereign will.”
He continued, “In a representative democracy system, the people are the masters of the country and the source of all power,” he said. “All public officials, whether elected or appointed, are the public servants of the sovereign and should not go against the will of the people. The administration has an obligation to realize it.”
Regarding the necessity of installing CCTV, the governor said, “It may be related to very few medical personnel, but illegal activities such as surrogate surgery and illegal surgery occur in the surgical process.” “To prevent in advance, protect the human rights of patients, and to investigate the truth of the problem, CCTV “The overwhelming majority of the people agree that it should be installed.”
He said, “If all the citizens directly decided according to the ideal form of direct democracy, the operating room CCTV would have been immediately adopted and implemented,” he said. It is against the purpose of the delegation to turn away from CCTV installation so that it is contrary to the criticism.
“There is no problem in Gyeonggi Province, the central government is also possible”

Governor Lee pointed out that the National Assembly was passive about the CCTV installation bill because it was conscious of lobbying and pressure from the medical community.
He said, “In the National Assembly, which is governed by the principle of majority voting, the position of responsibility is unclear, so lobbying or pressure contrary to the will of the people is easy to operate.” I urge you.”
Governor Lee claimed that CCTV installations in operating rooms were being implemented in public hospitals in the province, and no problems were occurring. At the same time, he urged the government to make mandatory CCTV installations where possible.
He said, “Gyeonggi-do has installed and operated CCTVs for operating rooms in six hospitals under the Gyeonggi Medical Center, but there is no problem. Some private hospitals are also autonomously installing CCTVs for operating rooms, and some hospitals are promoting the installation of CCTVs to attract patients. I’m doing it.”
Governor Lee continued, “Like Gyeonggi-do, it is possible to install CCTVs in operating rooms in hospitals affiliated with the central government, local governments, and public institutions, without any legislative action by the National Assembly. We request that CCTVs in public hospital operating rooms be installed and implemented immediately, regardless of the legislation of the National Assembly.”
In December of last year, the National Assembly conducted a poll on 1,000 adult men and women nationwide regarding the installation of CCTV in the water supply room, and 89% of the respondents agreed to the mandatory installation.
However, although the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee’s Legislative Review Subcommittee discussed the revision of the medical law on the 18th, it was reported that it was difficult to install a uniform CCTV.
