“Get down the mask, spit”… ‘After Club’ with quarantine holes

[아시아경제 송승윤 기자] The club, which has resumed business due to the easing of social distancing, is again being identified as a quarantine blind spot. There are many cases of violating quarantine regulations, such as smoking without wearing a mask, or in close contact with each other, and the users frequently visit several clubs a day.

On the 15th, after the social distancing (currently the second stage in the metropolitan area, the 1.5 stage in the non-capital area) eased, eight clubs in Seoul resumed operations until the 20th. In the second phase of social distancing in the current metropolitan area, the club is open from 5 am to 10 pm.

The clubs came up with their own self-rescue as they only had to open until 10 pm. The operation was changed to the so-called’After Club’, which is open from 5 am to 12 pm when the business restrictions are released. Some open in the early afternoon and open until 10 pm, or are divided into two sections in the morning and afternoon.

However, in most clubs that have been opened, the quarantine rules are not properly followed. In fact, at a club in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, visited during the dawn of the day before, the appearance of users without masks stood out everywhere. People who smoke with their masks down, spit on the floor or don’t wear masks at all have also been seen from time to time. Several security personnel, so-called’guards’, were deployed in the club, but this situation was not restrained. A similar situation continued in this and other clubs.

While the club is open to business, dancing and table movement are prohibited, and masks are required, and only one person per 8m2 is allowed. In addition, indoor smoking is not allowed, and an electronic access list system must be installed. Even within the facility, a distance of at least 2m (at least 1m) between users must be maintained. However, there are few places where these quarantine rules are properly followed. In particular, there are always many risk factors for group infections as users often visit multiple clubs at the same time.

Meanwhile, according to the quarantine authorities and local governments such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government, 384 new corona19 confirmed cases occurred across the country for 21 hours from 0 o’clock to 9 p.m. That’s 19 fewer than the same time the day before. There were 130 new confirmed cases from Seoul, 15 more than the same time the day before.
