Takanashi achieves the 60th championship in the Ski Jump World Cup history

Japan’s Sara Takanashi achieved her 60th victory in the history of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jump World Cup.

Takanashi scored 239.2 points in the Women’s Normal Hills’ solo match at the 2020-2021 FIS Ski Jump World Cup held in Rasnov, Romania, and was able to affordably beat Sillier Opses (Norway) with 232.9 points to win.

Takanashi, who won the third World Cup only in February, became the first 60-winner in the history of the Ski Jump World Cup for both men and women.

After Takanasi, Gregor Schlensauer (Austria) recorded 53 wins, and Maren Lundby (Norway), with 30 wins, half of Takanashi’s most wins, and second place in the women’s division.

Takanashi said, “It was difficult because it was very windy, but I tried to concentrate on what I was trying to do.”

Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Takanashi, who has won the Ski Jump World Cup season four times, including the 2013-2014, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017 seasons, ranked second in the overall ranking this season.

He was the strongest in the world, with 14 wins in the 2015-2016 season and 9 wins in the 2016-2017 season.

It is only 4 seasons after 9 wins in 2016-2017 that have won 3 times in a season.

Takanashi, who has not yet achieved Olympic gold goals, such as fourth place in Sochi in 2014 and bronze medal in Pyeongchang in 2018, has also raised hope for the 2022 Beijing Olympics based on this rise.

In Japan, Ryoyu Kobayashi won the men’s competition at the same venue and won the men’s and women’s World Cup.
