The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Chil-Seung Kwon, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Medium and Medium Enterprises) conducted the production site of Poonglim Pharmatech’s LDS vaccine, which was approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on February 18th (Thursday) and 17th. Poonglim Pharmatech has built a mass-production system capable of producing more than 10 million units per month of “least residual type (LDS) vaccine syringes equipped with safety protection devices” in just one month through a mutually beneficial smart factory of small and medium-sized enterprises and Samsung Electronics. In cooperation with Samsung Bioepis/Samsung Biologics, they applied for approval of the use of the syringe to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on January 18th.
According to the approval of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Poonglim Pharmatech announced that it will proceed with export consultations with US pharmaceutical companies.
In addition, Poonglim Pharmatech said that there are inquiries about supplying minimum residual type (LDS) vaccine syringes from pharmaceutical companies including 180 million units in the US and 80 million units in Japan.
The 3rd factory (new factory) under construction has additionally built a smart factory production system of more than 10 million LDS vaccine syringes per month (February January), the world’s largest minimum residual type (LDS) with more than 20 million units per month. It plans to have a vaccine syringe supply system.
In addition, Minister Kwon held a meeting with the vaccine syringe industry following the inspection on the production site to listen to industry opinions such as Doowon Meditech and Shin-A Corporation regarding the production and export of LDS vaccine syringes.
At this meeting, the industry announced that it has a sufficient vaccine syringe supply system to prevent any disruption in domestic vaccination such as expansion of production facilities in preparation for a surge in supply since last year.
Doowon Meditech has been selected as a supplier of syringes for corona 19 vaccination by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and will supply a total of 27.5 million units by the end of July. In addition, it has the ability to deliver more than three times the existing production through preemptive facility investment.
Shin-A Corporation is also planning to supply a total of 12.5 million units to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by the first half of the year.Based on the export experience of about 500 million LDS syringes to the United States from 1995 until now, recent discussions on exports with countries including Europe and the Middle East Is doing.
In particular, Poonglim Pharmatech announced that it will first donate 127,000 LDS vaccine syringes to 60,000 people vaccinated by Pfizer in the United States, and it is in a position to consult with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention along with overseas exports.
Minister Kwon said, “Based on Poonglim Pharmatech’s achievements in public-private win-win cooperation, we are promoting the supply of smart factories to vaccine injection companies other than Poonglim. We plan to promote the supply of smart factories in earnest.”
In addition, Minister Kwon said, “To ensure that these manufacturing innovation achievements lead to export, we provide tailored support throughout the entire export cycle such as pre-consulting, certification and standard acquisition, overseas marketing package support, and online globalization support such as online/offline connection (O2O) exhibitions. We plan to do it in parallel.”
