Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, Kim Young-ju, recommended LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-yeol as the next chairman, saying, “To respond quickly to the uncertain trade environment due to Corona 19, it would be better to recruit an entrepreneur who has the skills and expertise.”

If President Koo is elected after a regular general meeting, he is the head of the trade association, a former entrepreneur in 15 years. Since 2006, when Kim Jae-cheol, honorary chairman of Dongwon Group, resigned as chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, former high-ranking government officials took over. Recently, there has been a strong voice that a person from the business world who has experience in business practices should serve as the chairman in order to respond to pending issues such as regulatory policy and trade issues inside and outside the trade association.

Meta Biomed Chairman Oh Seok-song also said at the meeting, “Chairman Koo has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the real economy so that our industry can respond to the rapidly changing external environment.” He said, “We expect to solve the issues facing the trade industry well with the leadership that improved the business structure and grew to number 16 in the business world.”

Hwang Cheol-ju, Chairman of Jusung Engineering, also said, “Chairman Koo has led the change in the trade field by emphasizing digital innovation and strengthening the corporate structure. Based on various public sector activities and field experiences, the public-private government reflects the difficulties of the trade industry in government policies. “It will perform a great bridging role.”

He is also the president of the first wealthy trade association. Koo’s father, the late E1 Honorary Chairman Pyeong-hoi Ku, served as the 22nd and 23rd President of the Trade Association from 1994 to 1999.

Chairman Koo graduated from Seoul High School and Korea University, and completed the London Business School. In 1978, he joined Lucky Goldstar (currently LG International) as a regular employee, and for 15 years, he experienced global trade sites. He is a trade and finance expert with experience in the international field while working as general manager of the international division of LG Securities (now NH Investment & Securities) in 1995. In the public sector, he also served as co-chair of the National Intellectual Property Committee and the president of the Invention Promotion Association.
