A reporter from the Chosun Ilbo who secretly photographed documents by trespassing into the Seoul City Hall office was sentenced to a fine at the first trial.

On the 18th, Judge Jeong Jong-gun, who was solely responsible for criminal 9 of the Seoul Central District Court, sentenced a reporter to the Chosun Ilbo A, who was charged with intrusion on the 18th, fined 4 million won.

Reporter A, who was in charge of reporting at the Seoul City Hall, is accused of sneaking into the office of the Head of Women and Family Policy on the 9th floor of the Seoul City Hall at 6:50 am on July 17 last year and filming the material.

Reporter A was reported to a city hall employee who was caught on the spot and deleted the picture taken in response to the employee’s protest.

The time of the crime was when the head of the Women and Family Policy Office was coordinating the formation of a joint public-private investigation team in Seoul to investigate allegations of sexual harassment by former Mayor Park Won-soon.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government confirmed the trespassing of Reporter A with CCTV and reported him to the Seoul Namdaemun Police Station.

The judge ruled, “It was for the purpose of coverage, and the target was the office of a public institution, but we could not allow a coverage act that violates the legal interests of others.”

However, he explained the reason for the sentence, saying, “The defendant does not have a history of crime and acknowledges the crime.”
