In preparation for the introduction and supply of a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine from AstraZeneca (AZ), the government will conduct integrated simulation training with related organizations on the 19th.

The Central Defense Response Headquarters announced the schedule of vaccine-related simulation training at regular briefings on the 17th. The simulation training proceeds from a domestic manufacturing plant of AstraZeneca vaccine (Andong, Gyeongbuk) to local vaccination institutions as in real life. In addition, training in preparation for various situations that may occur during the vaccine transport process is also conducted. In this training, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (distribution management team), the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the National Police Agency, the Fire Department, local vaccination agencies (health centers, nursing hospitals, facilities, etc.), and SKB (distribution companies) participate.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety previously approved the domestic use of the AstraZeneca vaccine on the 10th and completed the national shipment approval on that day. AstraZeneca vaccination will begin on the 26th. The vaccine is commissioned by SK Bioscience and shipped from the Andong plant on the 24th. Vaccines from the factory will be delivered to the integrated logistics center, divided and packaged as required by each vaccination institution, such as nursing hospitals and facilities, and distributed from the 25th.

Meanwhile, the Agency for Disease Control and Prevention announced that it has signed 40 million’Low Dead Space (LDS)’ at the end of last month for the vaccine vaccination of Corona 19 such as AstraZeneca and Pfizer products. The minimal residual syringe is a special syringe designed with little space between the piston and the needle to minimize discarded vaccine. For Pfizer vaccine, 6 doses per vial (bottle) can be used.
