The Samsung Compliance Committee announced that it was necessary to prepare a countermeasure for the compliance risks of the Business Support Task Force (TF), which serves as a control tower for Samsung Electronics.
On the 16th, the Compliance Committee held a regular meeting at Samsung Life Insurance’s Seocho Tower to provide a communication channel to respond to the TF compliance risk.
An official from the Compliance Committee explained, “We will meet as soon as possible by adjusting the schedule with the project support TF to communicate to strengthen compliance.”
The business support TF is a newly established organization in early 2017 after Samsung removed the Future Strategy Office, which served as the group control tower. President Jeong Hyeon-ho, who was formerly the head of the HR support team at the Future Strategy Office, took over as the team leader, and some people were criticized that it was the resurrection of the Future Strategy Office.
Vice-Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who was sentenced to imprisonment for the case of Gukjeong Nongdan, said in the final statement of the remand retrieval, “The project support TF concerned by the special prosecutors will be subjected to more strict compliance monitoring than other organizations.
The Compliance Committee explained that it has recently decided to come up with concrete measures with affiliates to prevent the recurrence of such cases in the future after the court sentence of Vice Chairman Lee, former head of the Future Strategy Office, Choi Ji-sung, and former Deputy Chief of the Future Strategy Office, Jang Choong-ki.
On this day, the Compliance Committee decided to immediately select a research service institution after receiving a report on the promotion of external research services to categorize the compliance risks of the top management and set evaluation indicators and inspection items.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on the 19th of next month.
