The Seoul Metropolitan Government dismissed a former Seoul Mayor’s secretary who was sentenced to imprisonment for sexual assault on a female colleague.

Dismissal is the highest level of disciplinary action among suspension, relegation, dismissal, and dismissal, which corresponds to severe disciplinary action for public officials. A high-ranking official in Seoul said, “It is true that if the employee was dismissed due to disciplinary action,”

According to the disciplinary rules of local public officials, in the case of sexual violence crimes, when the degree of offense is severe and deliberate, the dismissal is dismissed. Upon dismissal, they must retire and are restricted from re-appointment for five years. Retirement benefits and pensions are cut in half. The Seoul Metropolitan Government must take disciplinary action within 15 days of the disciplinary decision, and Mr. A may file a petition or administrative lawsuit requesting cancellation or amendment of the disciplinary action in Seoul.

The city of Seoul ordered Mr. A to another department shortly after the incident last year, and when the incident became known to the outside, the Seoul Metropolitan Government received a notification of the commencement of investigation by the police and took office. A was charged with sexual assault by taking a drunk female colleague to a motel after drinking with employees on April 14 last year, the day before the 21st National Assembly election. On the 14th of last month, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Mr. A to 3 years and 6 months in prison, saying, “The crime is not good, such as inflicting post-traumatic stress disorder by committing adultery to a victim who is incapable of protest.” Mr. A appealed on the 18th of the same month.
