In early February, exports increased by 70% compared to the previous year

The export improvement trend, which started at the end of last year, continues this year. In particular, the amount of exports in early February increased significantly from the same period last year.

According to data from the Korea Customs Service, exports (preliminary customs clearance standards) on the 1st to 10th of this month were $18 billion, up 69.1% from the same period last year ($7.34 billion). The number of working days during this period was 8.5 days, 1.5 days more than last year (7 days). The average daily export value, reflecting the number of working days, increased 39.3%.

Among the major exports, exports of semiconductors (57.9%), wireless communication devices (88.0%), passenger cars (102.4%), automobile parts (80.6%), and petroleum products (37.5%) were strong.

By major exporter, China (65.7%), the United States (91.4%), the European Union (126.1%), Vietnam (64.3%), Japan (43.5%), and the Middle East (29.2%) saw a significant increase.

Imports ($20.4 billion) also surged 71.9% ($85.4 billion) from the same period last year ($8.54 billion). Imports of semiconductors (41.5%), crude oil (26.7%), petroleum products (52.4%), gas (182.9%), machinery (57.4%), and precision equipment (40.8%) increased remarkably.

Imports from major import partners such as China (162.5%), the United States (45.1%), the Middle East (40.0%), the EU (58.7%), Japan (37.8%) and Australia (147.3%) have increased.
