[금융경제신문=정성화 기자] As the COFIX (financing cost index), which is used to determine the interest rate for variable mortgage loans, is expected to fall all at once, the interest rate of the main bill is expected to fall from last month.

According to the’Cofix as of January 2021′ announced by the Banking Federation on the 15th, the Cofix based on the amount of new treatment was 0.86%, down 0.04 percentage points from the previous month. The balance-based co-fix also fell 0.04% point from the previous month to 1.13%, and the new balance-based co-fix also recorded 0.90%, down 0.03% point from the previous month.

COPIX is a weighted average interest rate of funds raised by eight domestic banks including NH Nonghyup, Shinhan, Woori, SC Cheil, Hana, IBK, KB Kookmin, and Citibank Korea. When commodity interest rates rise or fall, they rise or fall reflecting this.

Balance-based and new balance-based co-fixes generally reflect market interest rate fluctuations gradually, but new-handed-based co-fixes are calculated for newly raised funds in the month, and are characterized by relatively rapid changes in market interest rates. have.

Based on the amount of new treatment, Cofix has been on a downward curve for nine consecutive months since December 2019, and then has risen in the fourth quarter of last year. It rose twice in September and November of last year, and at that time, the level was maintained, but this time it showed a downward trend.

As a result, there is a high possibility that the interest rate of the variable headstock product linked to Cofix based on the new treatment amount will also slightly decline.

However, as commercial banks are tightening loans according to the recent financial authorities’ policy to strengthen household loan management, the effect of lowering the COPIX rate is expected to be small.

An official of the Bank Federation said, “If you want to receive a cofix linked loan, you need to carefully select the loan product after understanding the characteristics of Cofix.”
