[단독] Vice President Kim Yong-geun’s speech

Kim Yong-geun, full-time vice chairman of the Korean Federation of Business Owners, expressed his appreciation ahead of his remaining term of office one year. It is because of the fatigue accumulated in the process of enforcing corporate regulation legislation. As vice-chairman Kim’s successor, Lee Dong-geun, president of the Hyundai Economic Research Institute, Jung Man-ki, chairman of the Korea Automobile Industry Association, and Ryu Ki-jeong, executive director of Gyeonggi-do, are being discussed.

According to the business community on the 14th, Vice Chairman Kim recently expressed his gratitude to Kyung-Sik Son, President of Kyung-Sik Gyeonggi-do, and is reporting the same to internal employees. Vice-Chairman Kim said, “I tried to properly establish labor-management relations and change corporate policies, but recently I was skeptical of passing regulatory legislation.” Vice-Chairman Kim was inaugurated as full-time vice-chairman of the Gyeonggi General Assembly in July 2018, and the original term is until February next year.

It is expected that the replacement work will be carried out as early as the end of this month. After the General Assembly, scheduled for the 24th, a selection committee will be convened for the election of the vice-president to proceed with the selection process.

Inside and outside the business world, about six officials and internally-born officials are being discussed as the successor to Vice Chairman Kim. Director Lee Dong-geun is being mentioned as a leading candidate because of his career when he served as full-time vice-chairman when Chairman Sohn Kyung-sik was the chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Chairman Man-ki Chung is considered the right person in that he serves as the chairman of the Automobile Association and Korea Industry Federation Forum and represents the voice of the business community. Gyeonggi Chong Executive Vice President Ryu Ki-jung has been working for Gyeonggi Chong for a long time and has built a wide business network and communicates well with Chairman Son, so the possibility of his first internal promotion after former vice chairman Kim Young-bae is discussed. In addition, Cho Seok, president of Hyundai Construction Equipment, a former official of the Ministry of Industry, former president of Korea Hydro & Power Resources, Lee Kwan-seop, and a standing member of the Economic and Social Labor Committee, Kyung-deok Gyung, a former official of the Ministry of Labor, are also rising.
