The House impeachment prosecutors, who served as prosecutors in the Senate impeachment trial, claimed “guilty,” saying that former President Trump should be held accountable for the actions he committed while in office, and that he should not be held in office again. Failed.
After the vote, Republican Senate Representative Mitch McConnell said that he voted innocent because “the impeachment system under the constitution is intended to exclude the president who has committed serious and misdemeanor crimes”.
However, he strongly condemned the former President, saying, “As a civilian, you can hold accountability under the criminal law for the actions of former President Trump.”
