Yang Hyeon-jong, 33, seems to have an imminent contract with the Texas Rangers.
On the 12th (Korean time), reporter Evan Grant of Dallas Morning News, a Texas media outlet, shared the information that a Texas contract with Yang Hyeon-jong is imminent.
Grant said, “When Hyunjong Yang challenged the posting system in 2014, Texas bid but was rejected,” said Grant. “Hyunjong Yang will be another option for the Texas starter.”
Yang Hyun-jong, who became a free agent (FA) after the 2020 season, is aiming to advance to the United States. Yang Hyun-jong is determined to challenge even if he can only enter the 40-player roster even if it is not guaranteed to be in the major leagues.
On the 5th, a request for identification of Yang Hyun-jong came in to the Korean Baseball Commission (KBO). This is a process in which overseas teams check their correct status before recruiting players and check whether there are any obstacles.
Identity checks do not always lead to contracts. However, the possibility of Yang Hyun-jong’s trip to the United States is increasing.
