Jang Gye-hee (23), who grew up in Spain’s prestigious football club FC Barcelona’s youth team, makes a new start at Pyeongtaek Citizen FC in the K3 (third division) league.
Pyeongtaek Citizen said on the 9th, “We have recruited Jang Gye-hee from Barcelona youth through a free contract.”
Pyeongtaek Citizen was founded as Pyeongtaek G-Smart FC in February 2017 and participated in the K3 League as Pyeongtaek Citizen Football Team, and last year changed to the current club name.
The CEO is Yoon Sang-cheol, a former special goal getter who played an active part in the professional football Anyang LG Cheetahs.
According to a club official, Jang Gye-hee is preparing for a new season by joining the team after undergoing a closed test last month.
Jang Gye-hee, along with Baek Seung-ho (24, Darmstadt) and Lee Seung-woo (23, Portimonence), was a promising player who was called the “Three Musketeers of Barcelona”.
He joined the Barcelona Youth Team in 2011 when he was a freshman at Pohang Steelers under the age of 15 (U-15) in the K-League Pohang Steelers. ‘He suffered difficulties with punishment for banning this activity for violating the provisions.
Due to this, Gye-hee Jang was not able to participate in the training of the Barcelona youth team as well as the official game for a while, and in the summer of 2017, he failed to extend his contract, leaving Spain without stepping on the first team stage in Barcelona.
That year, he wore the Greek Asteras Tripoli FC uniform, but he also finished the contract after a year without being able to play in the first team.
He returned to Korea after a three-year contract with Pohang in September 2018, but he was unable to make his debut in the K-League. The transitional contract was terminated.
Eventually, Jang Gye-hee, who faced a crisis in his career, joined Pyeongtaek Citizen FC, pledged to start anew.
