On the 10th (Wed), Hyundai Motor Group unveiled the transforming Intelligent Ground Excursion Robot (TIGER) through the Hyundai Motor Group’s official YouTube channel.
Tiger was developed by’New Horizons Studio’, an organization in charge of future mobility under the Hyundai Motor Group.
Tiger has a modular platform structure similar to the walking mobility’Elevate’, which was first unveiled at CES in 2019. Tiger’s first concept model that was released this time was named’X-1′, where’X’ stands for’Experimental’.
The Tiger is about 80cm long, about 40cm wide, weighs about 12kg, and is a small unmanned mobility with 4 legs and wheels. It is characterized by the ability to move freely through the combination of intelligent robot technology and wheels to rough terrain that even a high-performance off-road vehicle cannot reach.

Tiger’s body is designed for ▲scientific exploration and research using various sensors ▲transport of emergency supplies in case of emergency rescue ▲delivery of goods to remote areas, etc. It has a’Symmetric Design’ structure that can change direction. When there are obstacles or when you need to pass through hard-to-pass terrain with wheels, you can use the walking ability of a robotic leg, and on flat terrain, you can transform into a four-wheel drive vehicle and drive at speed.
In addition, the vehicle body has a separate cargo storage compartment to enhance product protection, and the robotic legs can maintain the level at all times, enabling safe transport of goods even in areas with irregular road conditions such as rough roads and polar regions.
New Horizons Studio is a leading company in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) engineering design to develop Tiger in an open innovation method,’Autodesk’ and’Sundberg-Ferar’, a concept design company. I also collaborated with.
With Autodesk AI-based’Generative Design’ technology, we collaborated in the design section to enable the manufacture of light and sturdy 3D printing of Tiger’s legs, wheels, chassis, and tires, and Sunderberg-Ferra external styling He was involved in the design and software development of body, chassis and leg parts.
Generative design refers to a way to quickly present hundreds or thousands of optimized designs according to the conditions and definitions set by the designer.
