A team of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) who visited Wuhan, China to investigate the origin of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), released the results on the 9th (local time) after about a month of investigation.
Dr. Peter Ben Embarek, who leads the WHO team of experts, said at a press conference held in Beijing on the same day, “It stipulated whether the Corona 19 incident started in Wuhan before December 2019 (reported as the first patient outbreak) or in other regions. I didn’t find any evidence to do it.”
A team of WHO experts visited and investigated Wuhan and other places to find the origin of the Corona 19 virus. In response, the Chinese government has demanded that other countries, such as the United States, also conduct an origin investigation.
In this regard, Dr. Embarek explained to the angry market in Wuhan, where the first corona19 patients were reported, “the region was not a center of infection, and the virus was already spreading outside the market.”
“The angry market is not the center of the spread of Corona 19,” said Dr. Liang Wan Jian, as the representative of the Chinese side of the expert team.
In addition, the team of experts announced that Corona 19 virus (SARS-CoV-2) originated from a virus that infects both humans and animals, but it was not clear what kind of host it was originally possessed. He then explained that it is possible that bats and pangolins may be holding hosts. The expert team added that there is insufficient evidence that the animals were directly related to Corona 19.
The expert team started the press conference at around 5:10 pm, about an hour later than the press conference scheduled on the day. It is noteworthy that there may have been disagreements between China and other countries, which form an expert team, over the announcement of the results.
