A survey found that 8 out of 10 Gyeonggi residents have no plans to visit their hometown this Lunar New Year holiday. This is the result of Gyeonggi Province’s recent inquiries about 1,000 Gyeonggi residents aged 18 and older about their plans to visit their hometown.
According to the results of a public opinion poll released by Gyeonggi-do on the 9th, 85% of the subjects answered that they “have no plans to visit their hometown during the Lunar New Year holidays.” This is a 6 percentage point higher than the response that’there is no plan to visit hometown (79%)’ surveyed during Chuseok last year. Only 14% of respondents said they plan to visit their hometown during the Lunar New Year holidays.

Regarding meeting appointments with family members, relatives, and friends during the Lunar New Year holidays, 64% of respondents said, “I will not attend any meetings.” 29% of respondents said, “I will only attend meetings of less than 4 people.” 71% and 79% of the respondents in their 60s and 70s, respectively, answered’I will not attend any meetings’, and it was investigated that the elderly are more aware of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) problem.
Those in their 60s and 70s had a different mood from those in their 20s and 40s, who showed a response rate of 30% or more, with only 21% and 16% saying “I will only attend meetings with 4 people or less.”
7% of respondents said, “I will attend meetings with more than 5 people if possible.” 10% of men in their 20s said, “I will attend meetings with more than 5 people.”
The survey was conducted by telephone survey on the 6th by Gyeonggi Province commissioned by Casestat Research, an opinion polling agency. The confidence level is 95% and the sample error is ±3.1%p.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to maintain 2.5 steps of social distancing from the metropolitan area until the end of the Lunar New Year holidays. In addition, it is urged to maintain quarantine measures, such as prohibiting private gatherings with more than 5 people, and refraining from visiting and moving home.
