Myanmar’s military declared emergency measures across the country on the night of the 8th against massive street protests against citizens’ coup for the third day. For the first time, only the banning measures for assembly and night traffic were announced, but there are concerns that it will go to full martial law.

According to Myanmar residents, the military announced a “restriction measure of 144 articles” at 8 pm (local time) on this day. “△People who violates the Constitution and slanders or acts against the government for the safety of the public interest (including vehicles) △People who gather more than 5 people △People who pass at night from 8pm to 4am the next day are punished. He added that “the effect comes into effect immediately.” It is known that the official letter was delivered nationwide.

Earlier, the AFP news agency cited military officials and said, “Martial law has been declared in seven districts of Mandalay, the second city.” Its contents are the same as Article 144 of the restrictions announced by the military. “It is difficult to regard the freedom of the press as martial law because it is still guaranteed to be free of speech,” said a local Korean. However, after the announcement, military troops began to be stationed in Mandalay, and it is heard that troops will arrive in the largest city of Yangon around the dawn of the 9th.

The Korean embassy in Myanmar announced, “It has been confirmed that meetings of five or more people and a curfew from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. are being carried out nationwide, so please be careful.”
