(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Gwiwon Lee = The aftermath, such as production disruptions due to the global shortage of semiconductors, is an air current that extends beyond cars to mobile phones and game consoles, Bloomberg News reported on the 8th.

According to this, Apple recently announced that sales of some high-end iPhones have been restricted due to a lack of parts.

Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, which make console game consoles, are also struggling to fully respond to demand for similar reasons.

Sony announced on the 3rd that it will be difficult to meet the demand for new consoles this year.

Automakers such as General Motors (GM) and Ford of the United States are already cutting production due to a shortage of semiconductors.

Bloomberg said that although it is expected that the decrease in automobile sales due to the shortage of semiconductors will reach $61 billion (about 683 trillion won), the damage to the electronics industry could be even greater.

Meanwhile, the shortage of semiconductors intensified as the demand for IT devices such as computers, which declined in the early days of the coronavirus infection (Corona 19), recovered, but on the other hand, they pointed out that the hoarding movement made the situation more difficult.

In fact, as Chinese companies such as Huawei, which are subject to US semiconductor sanctions, increased their chip inventory, China’s computer semiconductor imports last year were estimated to be $380 billion, an increase of 14% from the previous year.
