According to the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters on the 7th, countries estimated to have introduced mutant viruses to date are the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Brazil, Tanzania, South Africa (South Africa), Ghana, Nigeria, Norway, and Malawi. It is a total of 18 countries including Maldives, Iraq, China, Zimbabwe, Canada, Poland, France, Hungary, and Syria.
The quarantine forces are currently conducting full screening for mutant infections on people arriving from five countries (UK, South Africa, Brazil, UAE, and Syria).
However, in addition to the five countries for full inspection, mutant viruses are also being introduced.
“We are conducting full-length genome analysis on 10-20% of confirmed cases from countries where mutant viruses have been reported,” said Bang Dae-bon. “We will strengthen surveillance on mutant strains through more detailed monitoring and analysis in the future.” Emphasized.
Meanwhile, of the 51 cumulative mutant virus infections, there were 37 mutant infections from the UK, 9 mutant infections from South Africa, and 5 mutant infections from Brazil.
