Bitcoin futures transaction exceeded $2 trillion in January… Twice the previous month

The monthly transaction volume of Bitcoin futures exceeded $2 trillion.

According to The Block Data on February 4, 2021, the trading volume of Bitcoin futures on major cryptocurrency exchanges in January reached a record high of $2.9 trillion (about KRW 2336 trillion).

This is more than doubled from the previous month. In December 2020, Bitcoin futures worth $993.8 billion were traded.

The exchange with the highest volume in January was Binance. Processed 30% of all transactions. Huobi and OkX followed with 23.8% and 16.9%, respectively.

During the same period, the monthly trading volume of bitcoin options on major exchanges also hit a record high. In January, a total of $27.93 billion (about 31 trillion won) worth of Bitcoin options were traded.

Deribit supported $27.93 billion in options trading. It accounted for 92.4% of the total transaction volume. OKX and the Chicago Merchandise Exchange (CME) handled 5.1% and 1.9% of options trading, respectively.

The rising atmosphere of cryptocurrency and the active spot market supported the activation of the cryptocurrency derivatives market. In January, the cryptocurrency market transaction volume reached 90.6 billion dollars. This is a three-fold increase from the previous month’s record of $373.9 billion.

According to the Token Post Market at 5:05 pm on the 4th, Bitcoin is trading at $31,786, up 5.17% from the previous day.
