Reporter Ahn Kyung-nam = Lee Seung-woo (23, Sint Trawiden), whose position has narrowed on the Belgian stage, is on loan from the Portuguese Primeira Liga (first division) Portimonense instead of the professional soccer K-League.

The Portuguese secretariat announced the closing status of the winter transfer market through its website on the 2nd (Korean time), and announced that Lee Seung-woo’s transfer documents for Portimonense rental had been received.

Previously, several local media outlets in Portugal reported that Seung-Woo Lee would play on loan until the end of this season at Portimonense.

Portimonense is running at 13th place (4 wins, 3 draws and 9 losses) in the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season.

Lee Seung-woo, from Spain’s prestigious FC Barcelona youth, played for the Belgian Main Pillar League Sint Trawidon from August 2019 through Serie A Hellas Verona in Italy when his entry to the first team failed.

However, contrary to expectations, Lee Seung-woo could not establish his position on the Belgian stage.

He played in four league games in the first season and did not score a single goal, and this season, he played in 13 games and scored only two goals.

In particular, after taking over as manager Peter Maes, he was completely out of the competition and is missing out for 9 consecutive games.

Lee Seung-woo, who was pursuing the transfer, received interest from the Spanish second division and the Israeli club, and also made contact with K-League 1 Suwon Samsung and Jeonbuk Hyundai.

However, after the European transfer market deadline, Portimonense and the dramatic agreement to a rental transfer were confirmed to remain in Europe.

The announcement of the club is expected soon.
