The first case of simultaneous infection with two types of COVID-19 mutant virus was reported in Brazil. Experts were concerned that this simultaneous infection could speed up the mutation rate of Corona 19.

“Virus Evolution Could Be a Pathway” Concerns

According to Reuters news agency on the 29th of last month (local time), researchers at Pivalle University in southern Brazil reported that two patients in their 30s from two liquors of Rio Grange who had Corona 19 at the end of last November were simultaneously infected with two different mutations. Confirmed.

The results of this study were published on the “medRxiz”, a pre-release site for medical papers, on the 26th.

According to the thesis, all patients with’simultaneous infection’ recovered without hospitalization and showed mild symptoms such as dry cough and headache.

“This simultaneous infection could induce a combination of mutations, resulting in a new COVID-19 mutation at a faster rate than before,” said researcher Fernando Spielki of Pivalet University, who conducted the study. It is pointed out that if two variants coexist in a patient, the rate of mutation of the virus may be faster. “This could be another pathway for the virus to evolve,” Spielki added.

Previously, it was found that the corona19 mutation from the UK is more contagious than the existing virus, and the efficacy of the vaccine is relatively inferior.
