Oh Se-hoon, former mayor of Seoul City, who emphasizes the experience and experience of the re-election mayor <한겨레> In an interview conducted at the studio, the Democratic Party’s former Minister of Small and Medium Venture Business Park Young-sun and Ahn Cheol-soo, the representative of the National Assembly Party, criticized the real estate policy, saying, “This is the situation of the major candidates challenging the mayor of Seoul.” Mayor Oh, a preliminary candidate for the Mayor of Seoul under the power of the people, said, “I regret seeing a lot of political damages,” saying that CEO Ahn Chul-soo made a controversy over the’conditional declaration of running for a run if he does not join the power of the people.’ . He also predicted that unifying the conservative opposition would not be easy.

― On the 5th of this week, four candidates for the Mayor of the People’s Power of Seoul will be selected. Are you confident in entering the first place?
“If we do a poll now, the approval ratings among the candidates come out in a thin bing. I will run hard.”
-Looking at the polls in the past, there is a tendency to be pushed against candidate Na Kyung-won.
“(Such) the poll was conducted when Candidate Na declared running before me and the media exposure was maximized. At that time, I couldn’t do anything waiting for Ahn Cheol-soo’s decision to join the People’s Party, and it was a time to swear that he was declaring a strange run. It’s similar as of now.”
-Candidate B receives 20% female bonus points in the preliminary contest and 10% in the final contest. Are you burdened?
“It gives you a 20% bonus, but if you don’t feel the burden, it’s a lie. However, it is a system created with the intent of Korean political circles to break the glass ceiling and allow women to enter public offices. I decided to accept it happily.”
―Candidate Eun-hee Cho made a reverse suggestion to candidates not to receive’female bonus points’ from me.
“I looked deeply at the brave and courageous proposal. But, isn’t it a system created for certain people? If all of the female candidates reach an agreement, would it not be known, would it not be a desirable attitude as a candidate to accept the system as a system.”

―It is a re-challenge of the mayor of Seoul in 10 years. Please explain why Oh Se-hoon.
“My theory is that when a vision for the future based on experience and experience arises, changes can be made with explosive energy. After the Fourth Industrial Revolution, welfare, labor market, job types and education will all be different. Only when this vision for the future is grafted can the capital city of South Korea become a city where you can feel proud. However, such a part will be able to start in earnest when the re-election is successful. (This election) I think that is the key to who will be able to work properly from the day after the election to alleviate the suffering of citizens suffering from corona.”
―I was in trouble with the conditional declaration of running.
“I have suffered a lot of political damage. In fact, I regret it. But see you in the future. Opinion survey results can vary greatly depending on the survey method. Therefore, unification based on public opinion polls is not easy. There is even a possibility that it won’t happen until the end. That is why I encouraged them to come in at that time (at the power of the people) to block the risk of unification, which is becoming increasingly difficult. As time goes on, I think that my proposal will gradually re-emerge.”
―It seems that the party wasn’t even recognized for that idea. In particular, Kim Jong-in, chairman of the Emergency Response Committee, strongly criticized.
“(Chairman Kim) was in a position against the entry of Candidate Chul-soo Ahn into the party, and it seems to be the same now. If so, it was natural for him to oppose me. Also, since I couldn’t discuss it in advance, I think it’s a natural phenomenon to show rejection.”

-Let’s go back to the policy story. Explain your real estate policy.
“First, let’s take a look at the pledges of other candidates. Candidate Chul-soo Ahn’s pledge is to’supply 746,000 households for five years’. Candidate Young-seon Park’s pledge is to’supply 340,000 units of land rental housing for five years’. I’m actually amazing. Currently, there are 3.8 million households in Seoul. With 3.8 million households building and living in Seoul for decades, isn’t the pledge to supply 740,000 households in 5 years is nonsense? Proposing that as the first pledge means that he was not ready and only declared running. The 340,000 land rental housing that ruling party candidate Park Young-sun said is an impossible story. The population of Songpa-gu, Seoul is 660,000. (If) Assuming that they are all two-person households and two people live in one house, it means that in order to build 340,000 land rental houses, there must be a public land of about Songpa-gu. Is there a public land about the size of Songpa-gu in downtown Seoul? This is the situation of the major candidates who challenge the mayor of Seoul right now. So, I promised two things. First, it is an incentive. Land and building owners and builders need to give signals that building houses can make money before they jump into supply. It intends to remove the’regulation on the 7th floor of the 2nd general district’ and increase the floor area ratio limit. In addition, it plans to temporarily merge the Housing Bureau, which is in charge of supplying housing to Seoul, and the Urban Planning Bureau, which regulates urban environment. Instead of struggling with each other, they should do everything in their power to supply housing in a harmonious manner.”
-Gyeonggi-do decided to pay disaster support for all residents. Are you in a critical position?
“In a large framework, it would be good if we adhere to the principle that the more damages are made, the more support is received. The necessity of universal payment can be acknowledged if it is around 3-6 months in the early coronavirus. However, after a year has passed, you need to be elaborate and meticulous now. There are people who have suffered tremendous damage from Corona 19, and if you don’t take this into account and share the same thing, wouldn’t the victims shed blood tears?”
-He failed in the two parliamentary elections (Jongno in Seoul in 2016 and Gwangjin in Seoul in 2020). It is pointed out that political evaluation has already been made.
“It’s like,’I’ve fallen twice, so I’m not old that’s been discarded.’ In a bad way, I’m telling a story (in a passport), but when the season of election comes, I think that when the season of election comes,’young and old, old people’ are attacked like that. This is something you have to be prepared for. However, in our party, there is a principle that Jungjin go to rough ground, and he did his best in Gwangjin, Seoul, a difficult place no matter what. Of course, it didn’t work as intended, but then the party should at least be considerate. It’s the same at work. If you’ve spent a lot of work in a difficult place, at least next time you’ll have to get a comfortable seat or a promotion. I don’t think it’s such a cruel society (laughs)
―From what I said earlier, it seems to be a negative prospect related to unification of opposition.
“I think it is difficult to unify the inside. It would be possible if someone had a big political decision, but it’s almost impossible with polls. When I was an individual, I could say,’If Candidate Chul-soo Ahn joins our party (I won’t go to the election)’. But if I become a candidate for our party, I can’t. Candidate Chul-soo Ahn is the same. If you unite with Candidate Tae-seop Geum (first), you become a candidate for that camp. Concession is not easy.”
―It seems that Candidate Ahn’s’One-Shot Competition’ has also passed.
“That’s not the way. Now, our party is working hard in the qualifying round, but it’s an absurd proposal to suddenly join the players in the qualifying round. If you came early, it would have been possible to enter the Tiger Cave and become a candidate.”
―It seems that it is possible to have a’three-way composition’ (Democratic Party-People’s Power-People’s Party).
“It means that all possibilities should be kept open. However, I will do my best to unify.”
―There is an evaluation that there is no helping force within the party.
“right. Honestly, support is weak in the party. But I can’t help it. It is the fate of a politician to appeal to the people while walking toward their own values and ideals. In particular, the sharper the opposition parties like now, the more politicians like me suffer. I think that is my fate.” By Noh Hyun-woong and Jang Na-rae, staff reporter [email protected]Click here to see the’Short Tour’ (Oh Se-hoon’s “conditional regret of the declaration of a run for a run…”), which was directly asked by former Mayor Oh Se-hoon!
