The government will install 3,000 fast chargers such as 120 super fast chargers at rest areas and urban gas stations on highways to facilitate charging of electric vehicles this year. On the 1st, Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Strategy and Finance held the ‘4th Innovation Growth Big 3 Promotion Meeting’ to discuss ways to expand the electric vehicle rapid charging infrastructure. The ultra-fast charger, which can travel long distances with a 20-minute charge, was set up in March and plans to build 120 units at highway rest areas and urban gas stations in December. The government plans to provide benefits such as cost support and land rent reduction so that the government installs more than 80 units, including 48 units on major highways (12 locations) and 32 units in central cities (8 locations) across the country. . The government will install 2280 units of rapid chargers. 880 units will be installed by analyzing areas with high demand for charging through big data analysis, 220 units at highway rest areas, 1030 units at major congested facilities such as marts and hospitals in the city center, 50 units at bus depots, and 100 units at taxi depots and shift stations. . It plans to support the private charging service provider to install 589 units by supporting 50% of the rapid charger installation cost to build 289 units, and 300 units to be built by supporting the construction cost of electric chargers at existing gas stations. As of December last year, 9805 electric vehicle fast chargers were installed nationwide, but it has been pointed out that accessibility is insufficient in’easy to install places’ such as public facilities rather than’necessary places’ such as transportation points. The government aims to create a more convenient electric vehicle charging environment than about 12,000 gas stations nationwide, and plans to install 12,000 electric vehicle chargers this year and increase it to 17,000 units by 2025.
