According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 1st, after making the western arterial road underground in August, it decided to build 300 public rental houses using the idle land. The Seobu Arterial Road is an urban expressway with a length of 8.1 km from Doksan-dong (Siheung Bridge) in Geumcheon-gu to Yangpyeong-dong (Mokdong Bridge) in Yeongdeungpo-gu and four round trips.

A city official said, “After the construction of the underground arterial road in August is completed, the existing road will be reduced to create a general road, and 300 public rental housing units will be built using approximately 63,800㎡ of idle land around the road.”

This plan is the maximum possible to build public housing along the western arterial road. The city’s explanation is that the length of the idle site extending along the road is wide, but the actual housing site is insufficient. The public rental housing site is planned in the areas of Guil Station in Guro-gu and Gwangmyeong Bridge in Geumcheon-gu.

In addition, the city of Seoul is conducting a’city on the road’ project on the northern arterial road.

By 2025, an artificial site will be built at the top of the 500m section of the 1.2km section from Sinnae Interchange to Jungnang Intersection on the northern arterial road in Jungnang-gu, and a compact city with housing and jobs will be created with SH Corporation in about 75,000m2 including the surrounding area. . It plans to build 1000 public housing units with the goal of starting construction in the second half of this year.

As the ruling party mayor candidates of the Seoul Mayor of the ruling party proclaimed as a pledge to use the road idle land, it is noteworthy whether specific details will be included in this supply plan.

Previously, Park Young-sun, former Minister of Small and Medium Venture Business, argued that “the city owns a lot of municipal ownership,” he said. “Under a new idea, the land created by undergrounding roads is owned by the state or city, so we can provide half-price apartments.”

Democratic Party lawmaker Woo Sang-ho made a pledge of’a city on the road’. He said, “We will build 160,000 public housing units covering North Riverside Road and Olympic Highway.”
