Naver and Kakao Mobility announced on the 31st that they will provide the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) train reservation service from the 1st.

Naver introduced that it is possible to check train operation information and even make reservations through the Naver Map application (app) and Naver search. You can tap the’Train Inquiry/Reserve’ tab in the Naver Map app or search for a station name or keywords such as’train timetable’ or’train reservation’ in the Naver search window. Information on KTX, Saemaeul, Mugunghwa, ITX-Youth, and tourist trains are provided, excluding advance reservations for the holidays.

Naver explained that it will provide a more complete search experience in the future as users can purchase train tickets only with Naver maps in the process of navigating the route to their destination. Naver said, “There are various routes and transfer sections nationwide for trains. There are many user needs for a one-stop function that enables easy identification of economical routes in terms of time and cost and even reservations.”

In addition, Naver is expecting a synergy effect with various local businesses such as SMEs (Small and Medium Businessmen) registered in’Smart Place’. For example, when planning a trip to Busan, it is possible to make a reservation for a train to Busan by using the information on the Naver map to search for restaurants of the user’s preference. Alternatively, you can pre-order food from a restaurant near Seoul Station using’Naver Smart Order’ before boarding time on the day of departure, and pick up and board the train.

Seunggi Seung-gi, a leader in charge of Naver Maps, said, “Naver Maps can provide a complete travel experience with train information/booking functions in addition to the walking route between the origin and destination, and public transportation directions.” In line with this, we are reviewing various functions for user convenience, such as recommending restaurants near the destination by notification.”

Kakao Mobility also provides reservation and ticketing services for KORAIL trains through the Kakao T Train. Likewise, all types of regular trains operated by Korean Railroads are applicable except for advance reservations for holidays. The Kakao T train is available to anyone who is a Kakao T app subscriber.

Kakao also explained that services such as Kakao T intercity bus and Kakao T taxi are organically linked to cover a wide-area transportation method. By entering only departures and arrivals from the Kakao T train, you can automatically recommend and use the best route from the train station information to the entire journey.

Even if you do not know the information for each train station or route, you can receive information on the optimal train route, make reservations, and pay by entering the final destination. Transfer information between trains and intercity buses, and the means of transportation between departure and destination before and after using the train can be provided at once.
